About HULSA

Haramaya University Law Students' Association (HULSA)

HULSA is a non‑profit, non‑partisan association of law students at Haramaya University College of Law. Established in 2005 E.C., it is a practical platform where students grow as future lawyers, judges, scholars, and public leaders.

We combine learning, research, and community service— from moot courts and clinics to publications and outreach — so members can apply classroom knowledge in real contexts.

Our Purposes

Form future leaders

Develop articulate lawyers and judges with strong speaking and writing skills.

Support student research, commentaries, and translations in Ethiopian law.

Membership & Governance

Membership

  • Open to all law students of Haramaya University College of Law.
  • Types: voting members (all students) and honorary/associate members (staff, alumni, and supporters).
  • Members enjoy rights to participate, vote, and access information.
  • Members are expected to observe the Bylaw, pay fees, and support HULSA's mission.

Organs & leadership

  • Main organs: the General Assembly and the Executive Committee.
  • Executive Committee includes the President, Vice President, Executives, Secretary, and Team Representatives.
  • The Assembly amends bylaws, elects and dismisses officers, and approves rules, budgets, and programs.
  • Additional committees may be formed as needed to run specific programs.
